Earth Day: My Contribution

I’m trying to go green. At least for somethings.
I’ve moved closer to my job so that’s reducing my carbon footprint and helping out my wallet. With gas prices approaching $3.50 a gallon and forecasted to hit close to $4.00, my move downtown looks to be the correct one.
My neighbor has her own little recycling bins so I’m throwing away my Propel bottles, glass and paper in them.
I’m also signed up to clean up the Cuyahoga River. I’m hoping to rid my area of the Flats of all of the trash that people lazily throw all over the place. It really makes the place look horrible. I don’t know why they have a lack of respect for everything.
How are you celebrating Earth Day?

Blogger Shirt

I’m stylin’ with a brand new Blogger t-shirt. It arrived via UPS while I was in South Texas. I figure with my 500th post not far off, I might as well sport one. By the way, mom2amara picked up one free. I spent about 20 bucks on mine but I’m not bitter, not bitter at all!

Just like the picture, it’s brown and here’s the interesting part, it’s made out of 70% bamboo. Who knew you could make t-shirts out of bamboo. The other 30% is cotton. It feels different. Bamboo has been praised as the “the natural, green and eco-friendly textile of the 21st century.” naturallybambooclothing.com says The Japan Textile Inspection Association found that even after washing bamboo clothing 50 times, bamboo fiber still has excellent anti-bacteria properties.

I’m fine with all of these facts but I’m just happy the new shirt arrived and it’s very comfortable. Apparently, bamboo shirts are going to be something we’re going to hear more about over the next few months.

Take Two Guesses What This Is…

They will just about fry anything. I’ve heard of Snickers and oreos, but bananas? That was one of the foods they served at RioFest. It was good. It tasted like Banana pudding.

I was a little disappointed by the festival. They removed the carnival rides. Apparently, this move came last year. I don’t know if it was a budget deal or what. I also wonder if the festival might be struggling.

I don’t know why I randomly picked festival weekends to visit. Ain’t that a coincidence?

RioFest

Apparently I can only visit South Texas when BorderFest or RioFest is happening. Of course, my friends have a commitment to the station to work the festival. KGBT Action 4 News is giving away an HDTV. So there are a lot of people who are stopping by their tent to sign up for the chance to win. I think I only have to be here a couple more hours.

Do I Have One Of Those Faces?

First, let’s not answer with any wisecracks. For some reason people want to talk to me. A lady (crazy one at that) started talking to me out of the entire car full of people riding to the airport. The flight attendent stopped and talked to me as she was checking overhead compartments. Another person sitting next to me on my flight to HRL was reading a book then shut it and started a conversation. I even had my mom2amara do-not-bug-me earbuds firmly stuck in, well, my ears. I wonder if I just have a friendly face or something? By the way, I’m really not that nice.
