  1. Todd, I loved your write-up about Wooster memories. About Buehler’s, I clearly remember that they were the first store to have a UPC barcode scanning system, and that it made headlines. UPC scanning was first used on a mass scale in about 1974, so Buehler’s may have been the first store in the area to have it. I went back to Buehler’s earlier this year and I noticed that the frozen food compartments (the ones open on the floor) were the same ones from when the store was built in 1979-1980.

    Have you heard that Friedlander’s is set to be torn down at the end of the year? That’s what I heard a couple months ago; maybe the news has since changed.

    I can’t believe the changes to the area whenever I go back. My father passed away a few years ago, so I rarely get back to the area now, but it’s fun to recollect old places and memories!
