Todd, I loved your write-up about Wooster memories. About Buehler’s, I clearly remember that they were the first store to have a UPC barcode scanning system, and that it made headlines. UPC scanning was first used on a mass scale in about 1974, so Buehler’s may have been the first store in the area to have it. I went back to Buehler’s earlier this year and I noticed that the frozen food compartments (the ones open on the floor) were the same ones from when the store was built in 1979-1980.
Have you heard that Friedlander’s is set to be torn down at the end of the year? That’s what I heard a couple months ago; maybe the news has since changed.
I can’t believe the changes to the area whenever I go back. My father passed away a few years ago, so I rarely get back to the area now, but it’s fun to recollect old places and memories!
Fall is my absolute favorite. look at the budding photog. Did you take that or rip it off of Google images?
