Spring Fever – 100th Post!
Okay, so I really don’t have the time that I want to make this post the best that it can be even though it’s a milestone for me but here goes.
Check out the picture on the left. It signals the end of Winter and the beginning of Spring. Yes, you’ll recall that I love Winter but even more, I love the fact that I have my seasons back. In South Texas, it was three weeks of Winter and then Summer again. I didn’t care for that at all. My camera phone did a good job of capturing all of the ice on Lake Erie, yesterday. It was around 70 degrees and that’s hot (sorry, Paris Hilton).
For those of you keeping up with my project, converting all of my CD’s to mp3’s, it’s actually going well. I’m up to George Clinton in the non-oldies section. Actually, I’ve done a lot of other CD’s out of order so I’m making a bunch of progress and my iTunes says I have about 10 days worth of songs on my computer. Of course, not all of them I would listen to, but nonetheless, they are digitized on the MyBook.

Blog Updated With Favicon
I’ve added a favicon to my blog. It’s not the most artistic favicon but it’s kinda cool. If you don’t know what a favicon is, it’s the little slanted “t” that’s next to my blog’s address. If that doesn’t ‘splain it enough, click here for Wikipedia’s explanation.
(Quicker note: I’m two posts away from my 100th!)
See, I Told You So…
Okay…
You don’t have to look back through my blog too far to see my view about this season of “American Idol”. Yesterday, I came across this AP story with my same thoughts. The buzz surrounding “Idol” this season is more like a hum. Check out a little excerpt from the AP story.
No thrills — so far — from “Idol’s”
By Erin Carlson
The Associated Press
NEW YORK — Blah.
If any word were to sum up this year’s mostly bland and sometimes unwatchable batch of “American Idol” contestants, that’d be it.
Sure, there are some standouts — sweet-natured former backup singer Melinda Doolittle, big-voiced belter LaKisha Jones and cocksure beatboxer Blake Lewis are shoo-ins to face off in the weeks before the Fox talent show’s big May finale. Each are confident, worthy performers — yet they don’t leave you wanting more.
“It’s a very hard season I think, at this point, to pinpoint who has the ‘it’ factor,” said Michael Slezak, who blogs about the show for Entertainment Weekly magazine’s Web site. “Which is strange, because usually by this point in the ‘Idol’ season, you could say: ‘Fantasia has IT. Carrie Underwood has IT. Chris Daughtry has IT.'”
“I can hope that the guys get better and better each week,” Seacrest said recently. “We are so early in the season and in the series, you also don’t want to be somebody [who] peaks too soon. You want to make sure you’re good enough to stay in, but you’re building with each week, so the audience gets behind you.”
In other words: Don’t write off this crop of contenders just yet. After all, the top 12 finalists have yet to be announced.
So what do you think? Are we right or are we just being too tough on these American Idol hopefuls?
‘Heroes’ Only Getting Better
This show continues not to disappoint!
Every time you think you know who’s side people are on, they throw a wrench into the works. Mohinder Suresh, who we thought was oblivious to the fact Sylar befriended him and was using his information only to increase his powers. Last night, Suresh showed he was no dummy and spiked Sylar’s tea with some sort of chemical that rendered Sylar powerless. In another twist, Sylar struck back and ended up lashing out at Suresh. Last time we saw him, he was hanging from the ceiling.
Claire found out her grandmother knows about her son’s powers. She told Claire she’s been trying to keep her safe but it’s not been easy. We never knew before tonight Nathan Petrelli’s mother understood that her sons had special powers. She’s teamed up with the man who can clear memories.
Hiro got his sword and transported himself and his friend to the future where it appears as if a bomb exploded.
The show has more twists and turns than just this. Again, I’m telling you, if you haven’t watched this show. Go to nbc.com and watch some of the old episodes and you, like me, will be hooked. The next new episode is April 23rd.
The Police Come To Cleveland
Next major event, at least for now, The Police concert. My friend, Katie, wanted to get tickets to the concert when they come to Cleveland. The tickets went on pre-sale today but you had to have a Best Buy Rewards Zone card. She didn’t, I do! So I told her I’d get her a code and I scored one. She then got up today and logged on and scored tickets. It’s 16th July (that’s how it’s on their website, they’re British, you know!) I gotta get that night off work. I’m not the biggest Police fan in the world but it just rocks me off my butt that I didn’t get to see Fleetwood Mac when they went on their final tour (with Christine McVie) and I’m forever kicking myself in the ass for that one. But now, I sing “everything little thing she does is magic” with the Police once last time LIVE!
A Weekend of Total Fun!
Okay, Ohio University lives up to its status. Jason and I took a long drive down there. We got backed up in Columbus Saturday morning, got behind a funeral procession on Rt. 33 and took the BR (Business Route) before Jason realized we didn’t want that way but it was still fun. We got there in just enough time to drop off our stuff at the University Inn. We met Rick, Frank, Steve and Matt. Jason introduced me to Steve, who’s a reporter and then asked Matt if he was a photographer. Matt said “I work at a liquor store.” Hiliarous and more so if you were there. Next, we went to Miller’s Chicken. They have good fries. I didn’t partake of the chicken because I wasn’t hungry.
We headed off to the basketball game. We walked there spouting off (I mean, shouting) lines from Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby”. By the way, Rick was very sick, bad cold. Props to him for hanging in! It was a big day at the Convo because OU was celebrating 100 years of Bobcat Basketball. They had players from the past including one man who came dressed in a Hawaiian shirt. Props to him for that one! Jason and Rick spotted Manute Bol sitting on the other side of the Convo. We wandered over there and we got a picture with him. He wasn’t very excited to have us take his picture as you can see for yourself. The game was good but the end result wasn’t. OU played Kent State. The game came down to the final moments but OU lost by two points, 73-71. You couldn’t help but notice the cheerleaders including one of them, who had the most unbelieveable set of abs, I’ve seen. Props to her for those! 🙂
So we went back to the hotel to get ready for the night. We walked up to “uptown” because it literally up the hill. We started at Court Side Pizza. The nice people sitting next to us had plenty of pizza left over and ended up “donating” it to our cause. Props to them for their gesture. Nice free meal! We headed to C.I., where we met up with Steve & Matt. The place was dead but Matt reassured me things would change, and they did. Props to him for the reassurance. Jason being the tour guide that he was/is, took me to Pawpurr’s, then Crystal, Red Brick Tavern. Crystal (I think that’s the name) was the best of all of them because of the “talent”. Frank and I at one point bumped into “cheerleader with the great abs” and I got a picture with her even though my camera was sans batteries. We took it with my camera phone which didn’t turn out so good. Oh well!
Props to Jason for the trip suggestion and the rest of the Bobcat pack!
