Shocking Surprise!

I went into work and saw this envelope sitting on my desk. It obviously was from one of my favorite shows for the past 25 years, “The Young & The Restless”. My great-grandmother watched the show, it was one of her “stories”. After spending a summer with her, I got hooked and I’ve been that way ever since. I taped it in high school, scheduled my classes around it in college, went back to taping it when I started work and now, because my schedule permits it, I often catch the show as I get ready each day. It’s a guilty pleasure but I still feel close to my great-grandmother because of the show. I’ll think from time to time what she’d say if she saw a certain scene. She’d often say “Why does Jill have to be so mean!”. That was back when Jill’s character was evil. The writers have calmed her down a lot since then.

I couldn’t open the envelope quick enough. I found a script inside with so many of the actors’ and actress’ autographs on it. It’s for a episode that hasn’t aired yet. I haven’t read it yet but I glanced through it. Take a look at all of the signatures on the script. There’s Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor), Don Diamont (Brad Carlton), Jess Walton (Jill), Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki), Doug Davidson (Paul) and Kristoff St. John (Neil). Take a look, there are plenty of others. The script itself is very interesting to look at. There is all kinds of information about where the actors need to be for the show. There are details for the crew, continuity and even commercials.

Inside the script booklet held two other surprises, glossy black and white pictures signed by two of my favorite actors. Peter Bergman has always been my favorite stars of the show. He took over for Terry Lester playing Jack Abbott. I always liked Jack’s character and what he wanted. He loves his family and wants to continue his father’s legacy. Victor Newman is always there to try to keep Jabot from Jack and his family.

Jack’s current wife, Sharon, played by Sharon Case is my other favorite star. Why not, she’s beautiful and plays Sharon Newman Abbott perfectly. She’s not the first actress to play the role but I believe she’s the best by far. She also play great opposite both Peter & Joshua Morrow (Nick).

So, by now, you’re wondering why I got this. A former intern at my work went out to intern at “Young & the Restless” this summer. I jokingly suggested he get me Peter & Sharon’s autographs but he went way beyond that. I really greatly appreciate him going the distance and remembering me while in California. Honestly, it’s up there with one of the best gifts I’ve ever received. You’ll see the pictures proudly displayed on my wall soon. It’s the little things that can quickly swing your mood.

  1. OMG you’re a closet soap opera fan!

I have been watching AMC since in womb so I can’t talk 🙂

Haven’t gotten a chance to look at all your vacation photos yet. I DO want to see all of them!

  2. Just stumbled across your blog and thought I’d drop a line here.

Omg….we get Y&R here in the early afternoon. A few years ago we were years behind but the tv channel that airs it decided to drop it and start screening eps that were only a few months behind the US…..leaving half the viewers perplexed as to who was who for a while! Lol!

Mind you, your ex-intern friend sounds like a keeper friend. How fantastic. No wonder it changed your day. I recently had a brush with celebrity and was on an adrenalin high for days.
