When Big Brother 8 Jumped The Shark

It’s simple… Big Brother 8 jumped the shark when the housemates sent Eric and Jessica to the jury house.

BBAD is not even worth watching now. The producers had a camera on Daniele on Friday night sitting at the table doing nothing for about 5 minutes. I mean she’s hot and everything but I got out some paint and watched it dry. That was more exciting.

Zach is boring, ED is nowhere to be found and Jameka is the only saving grace in the show. However, she’s sitting alone in the hot tub. She asked Daniele to come out with her but Ms. Donato quickly said “I don’t do the hot tub.”

So now we just wait until the 18th to see who will get the $500,000. I know it will be a blow out show but I’d love to hear what some of the housemates think about Eric being “America’s Player” and getting the money for completing all of those tasks.

The contempt for Jen in the house is amazing. Dick has taken hatred to a new level during this season. We’ll wait to see what happens during the season finale but until then BBAD isn’t must see viewing for me anymore.

A Big Night on Big Brother

Tonight is a big night on Big Brother. First, ED and Daniele have decided to make their own drama.

They plan to evict Jessica. Eric will vote for Jessica but his vote won’t save her. Jessica will go to the sequester house.

Big Brother has also promised a twist. It’s a double elimination night. I’d love to see Zach zapped from the house.

The good folks at Idol Thoughts have put together some different scenarios about what could happen tonight. Check out their thoughts. I’m too lazy right now to write all of my ideas out. Nice job guys!

I hope Jessica by some twist of fate gets to stay in the house but at this point, that doesn’t look like reality.

Men vs. Women

A new Indiana University study turns up some interest findings about attractions between men and women. Researchers looked at the behavior of 46 people taking part in a speed-dating session. Speed-dating is becoming an increasingly popular way for people to find someone.

During the study, attractive women got more attention from men. Potentially wealthy men got the nod from women. The participants said they hoped to find someone who was like them. The study shows men sought the more attractive women and the women were drawn to material wealth and security.

Lead researcher Peter Todd said “While humans may pride themselves on being highly evolved, most still behave like the stereotypical Neanderthals when it comes to choosing a mate.”

Dr Glenn Wilson, a relationships expert at the Institute of Psychiatry in London said “It is well known that men select women for fairly superficial reasons, whereas women think much more about the long-term and the qualities and resources needed to bring up children.”

“Men will often find themselves falling into relationships by default after starting off looking for sexual adventure.” he added.

So apparently, the best thing for women to do is worry about their looks. The best thing for men to do is worry about their careers so they can pad their wallets.

Is this study indicative of relationships or just a fluke? What about poor guys and ugly girls. Are they bound to be hooked up and continue this phenomenon?

Big Brother Coming To An End

My days of Showtime viewing are numbered. There are 13 more nights of BBAD (Big Brother After Dark, for those of you not following along.) and then I’m going to cancel Showtime. I’m going to miss two good shows on the channel, Weeds & Californication. If you have Showtime, you should watch them, but not with kids in the room. How could anyone who’s watching BBAD, not at least be curious about them because that’s all Showtime shows us as commercials for three hours.

Let’s get back to BBAD, ED has apparently told Jameka she’s going home on Thursday and told Jessica she’s safe. This is a lie. They plan on sending Jessica home instead. I don’t quite understand why. It’s totally an unneeded mind game. Several of the bloggers out there have figured out several scenarios. They say it’s a bad idea for the Donato’s to send Jessica home. ED is apparently set to offer Jameka an eleventh hour deal to keep her in the house. She’d be silly not to accept it. The deal includes some immunity for Dick & Daniele. Zach, of course, is happy to play along.

What would the houseguest do without alcohol? They’ve played more beer games this year than I remember any other season playing. The bulk of what you get to see now on BBAD is beer games. Soon there will be just four people who are in the game, the late night competitions aren’t going to be so exciting anymore. Daniele just said “I think Showtime is sick of quarters”. Someone else chimed in “and beer pong”.

I’d really like to see a final four of Eric, Jessica, ED and Daniele. Unfortunately, I don’t see that happening with the current strategy that’s being discussed in the house.

Have you seen last week’s House Calls? They make complete fun of Amber, her crying, her rants and somewhat her religion. Gretchen also reads the statement from the show’s producers about why evicted houseguests won’t be available to the media until after the final vote.
Here’s one of the most ridiculous things I’ve heard all season. Zach thinks he’s one of the most popular players in the house. Zach was surprised when ED and Daniele laughed at his statement.

Labor Day Laments

I’ve enjoyed this Labor Day. I spent the whole day with myself. That’s a rarity nowadays. I’d almost forgotten what it was like. I turned off my cell phone ringer and just relaxed. I’ll admit slipping in a nap and getting some work from work done.

I’m using my Labor Day to catch up on some television entertainment which I admittedly don’t get to watch much. The only exception is Big Brother. Oh yeah, the “Charmed” box set has given me a little reason to turn on the tube.

Which brings me to my review of the last season of the show. So far, the episodes have been just as good as the last season.

Blog Recommendation: If you haven’t checked out mom2amara’s blog, at least read her Tie One On post. It’s funny and by the way dad2amara, parting with clothes is hard to do but sometimes it’s for the best!

Midnight Confessions

Okay, it’s more like 4:48am and it’s because I’m not asleep yet. Of course, I’m watching BBAD. Zach is HOH. Zach, Daniele and Dick have a side alliance going. Eric is devastated. Jameka and Jessica are up on the block. That’s most of the crawl that they put on SHO TOO.

Here’s the confession. Tonight was interesting. I went to Momocho in Ohio City. It’s the old Fulton Bar & Grille. I’m shocked that the restaurant closed because back in the day you’d have to have reservations to get a seat there. The service at Momocho was slow and the food was okay. We asked for sour cream and our meal was almost finished before it arrived. The place brought back bad memories of a happier time in my life. My former girlfriend and I enjoyed dinner there. That was the last time when I visited the place. Ohio City confuses me.

After that, we went down to the Warehouse District and stopped at Mercury Lounge. That was another stop that was a bad memory. I can’t believe I still see some of the people who would be out back in the day, they’re still out. I guess the same thing could be said of me but I was in a long term relationship and out of the state for years. It’s funny.

I don’t have the stomach for West 6th anymore. It’s a bunch of people who are out of control and just out so they can be seen. I choose not to go down there anymore but tonight was a special event. One of my friends is moving out of town so it was her going-away party. Exceptions to the rules… (a rare exception!!!)

I’ll still take my peeps at the South Side who are awesome people and always make us welcome! That’s the most of the midnight confession you’re gonna get for this evening!

Charmed: The Final Season

If you’ve been following my blog for any amount of time, you’ve heard me mention the show “Charmed”. It’s been a year since it’s been on TV. The CW replaced the WB. The producers decided eight seasons would be enough.

TNT currently repeats the show during the week. TNT is how I got hooked on the show. I didn’t want to watch the final season’s shows until I got through the rest of them. Problem is, I didn’t DVR them so I’ve been anxiously waiting for the final season to come out on DVD. Amazon.com is selling the DVD for $30.99 when it goes on sale September 11th. Here’s one of the perks of working in television. I got an advanced promotional copy of it. I saved about 30-some dollars and am now able to watch the final season a little early.

There has been some talk about whether the final DVD would have Love Spit Love’s version of “How Soon Is Now” as the title theme. The producers’ rights to the song has apparently expired so it’s not on the final season’s DVD. It’s replaced by a like sounding instrumental.

The episode I’m watching right now is “Desperate Housewitches”. I was surprised to see Michelle Stafford (Phyllis on the “Young & the Restless”) as a human who’s possessed by a demon trying to use Wyatt’s powers to bring back The Source. Of course, Michelle plays a great role in this episode.

Big Brother Catch-Up

I’ve been busy but just because I’ve had tons of things to do doesn’t mean the houseguests are slacking off.

After Thursday’s episode, Zach won the HOH. He ended up putting Jameka and Jessica up on the block. Daniele won the Power of Veto competition but the question is, will she leave the nominations as they are or will she take either of the nominations off the block. We will see.
